The Bowen Technique

Esther Lewis-Smith, MBTPA, Cert ECBS

“After 13 years of pain, I feel like I have a new back and pelvis. Thank you!”     Michelle Rochester, teacher

The Bowen Technique is one of the most versatile and effective therapeutic treatments available and many acute and chronic conditions can respond well to Bowen, including –

Back pain and Joint pain, Muscular-Skeletal problems, Fibromyalgia, Asthma/Respiratory conditions, Hayfever & allergies, Infant Colic, Anxiety/Panic attacks, Sleep problems and fatigue, Frozen shoulder, Sports injuries, RSI, Sciatica, Headaches and Migraine, IBS and Tinnitus, to name a few!

Bowen therapy is a soft tissue remedial therapy that involves the therapist using fingers or thumbs to move over muscle, ligament, tendon and fascia in various parts of the body. This therapy can be effective to help relieve everyday stresses and revitalise the whole person and restore normal function.

Esther trained at the European College of Bowen Studies and is a registered member of the Bowen Therapy Professional Association.  She also has an ITEC Diploma in Holistic Massage, Anatomy & Physiology and is a member of the Complementary & Natural Healthcare Council.

Prior to this, she was a professional dancer, teacher and movement specialist for 15 years, having trained at the Laban Centre for Movement & Dance in London, before following a natural progression into remedial bodywork.

Esther is also the Co-ordinator for a Bath based charity working with children and families.

She works in the city of Bath and the surrounding area.
